I need them to eat some hair algae and I have some really big fish, so I will have to wait for something a little bigger :) Keep me posted!

alternatively

set up a smaller tank with amano shrimp
(we just got in 100 Large size)
move algae covered object or plant to that tank
let amanos clean it
move it back later

Post subject:  Follow Ned's advice on the Amano shrimp

I do and they work wonders!

I have a 10 gal tank with 8 large Amano shrimp. They are a like an algae eating machine. They eat whatever algae I've got - including beard algae. They clean plants, wood, rocks, coconut shells, clay pots, you name it. I feed them nothing but algae.

I have the beard algae :( and a 150 gallon tank and it is taking over a bit. If I piece out the items with the algae I think it would take forever, do you think the shrimps would be ok in a tank with some bigger fish. They aren't too aggressive but I don't know if they will be curious. I have a redfin Prochelodis that is 12" (he is the biggest fish in there). I had 2 SAEs and they were doing a good job but they decided to jump :(

even the giggest amano shrimp is only 2 inch
so it would probably be a snack for anything large

panda garra would be the best option

I heard they were out of season
but I'll keep looking
